The flying shearing machine is a single-purpose machine which is used after the extruder, for example. It is designed to shear automatically plastic tubes (diameter 4 – 16 mm) and profiles of lengths ranging from 130 mm up to 2,000 mm. The machine works on the principle of flying shears which make it possible to shear tubes and profiles without the need to stop the machine.

The tubes pass through a measuring encoder in the machine and this encoder senses the current speed of the tube being extruded, measures the covered path and provides the control system with the information necessary to shear according to the entered length of the product.

The shearing workplace is a system of several elements. A servo-drive with a spindle ensures the movement of the shear head in the axis of the tube being extruded. The speed of the shear head is synchronized with that of the tube. The information on the current speed is provided by the encoder on a measuring arm. As soon as synchronization of movements is reached, the tube is clamped by means of two pneumatic rollers and shorn off while moving. The shear as such is carried out by means of a servomotor and a crank mechanism. The servomotor performs just one revolution which is converted by means of a connecting rod into a linear motion (shear) on a ball guideway and a shearing blade is mounted on the run-out table of the ball guideway. The top position of the shearing blade is indicated and checked by an inductive sensor.
